The following is a list of tools required to complete your installation. Tools Needed • Tape measure • Drill • Pencil • Screwdriver • Needle Nose Pliers • Step Ladder • Level • Scissors • Wall Anchors Parts List • Wall Extension Mounting Bracket Assembly • Screws • Headrail • Vanes (fabric, fabric groover or vinyl) • Cord and Chain Hold Down Optional (if ordered) • Valance • Valance Clips (Deluxe and Designer Valance) • Valance Returns (Deluxe Valance only) • 3" Valance Connector (Designer Valance only) • Clear Corner Connectors (Deluxe Valance only) • Guard Support STEP 1 Mount Installation
Begin by choosing your mounting choice
A. Outside Mount(wall window or door frame)
Start by marking the HEIGHT on wall. Make the markings at the length of the vane plus 2". This should allow approximately 1/2" floor clearance. If you desire additional clearance, simply raise your marked length.

Next, center the headrail over the window at the HEIGHT mark. Using a pencil, make approximately a 2" long mark on wall approximately 4" in from each end. If your blind is over 60" wide, evenly space and make marks on wall for each mounting bracket. Below is a chart for the number of mounting brackets for specified widths.

under 59" = 2 brackets
60" – 89" = 3 brackets
90" – 129" = 4 brackets
130" – 159" = 5 brackets
160" + = 6 brackets
Place L-shaped mounting brackets up to the 2" marks on wall. Using a pencil mark the mounting holes.

Drill holes where you have placed your markings. Note: If you are drilling into dry-wall, make sure to use adequate hollow wall anchors.

Next, screw brackets into place. Make sure to use 2 screws with every bracket. Now it is time to snap your headrail into place. To do this properly, you need to insert the headrail into the front edge of the mounting clip then rotate back.

This will snap the headrail into place. Pay special attention to which side you wish to have your vertical blind draw. Put the cord on the left for a left draw and on the right for a right draw.

B. Inside Mount (No Valance)
1. Start by marking the area where you want to mount your vertical blind. Center the headrail over area to be covered and mark the width 4" in from each side.

2. Place the C clip mounting brackets 4" in from each end. Then, using a pencil, mark your screw hole locations. If your blind is over 62" wide, evenly space all additional clips and using a pencil mark all hole locations.

3. Drill holes at the mounting hole marks. Note: If you are drilling into drywall, make sure to use adequate hollow wall anchors.

4. Next, hold the C clip up to the holes. Using screws, secure the C clip making sure to go through the C clip and into sill or ceiling.

C. Inside Mount (Deluxe Valance)

1. Start by marking the area where you want to mount your vertical blind. Then, place the C clip mounting brackets 4" from each end of the dust cap. NOTE: The C clip long point should be lined up evenly with the edge of the dust cap (facing you).

2. Using a pencil, mark the hole locations for C clips. Then, pre-drill the marked holes on the dust cover. Remember to space evenly the remaining brackets over the dust cover.

3. Now, mark the hole locations on the mounting surface. Take the valance, center it over the mounting area and using the pre-drilled holes (from step 2) as a guide, mark your holes for the mounting area.

4. Drill holes through the valance at the mounting hole marks. Note: If you are drilling into drywall, make sure to use adequate hollow wall anchors.

5. Next, using screws, mount the C clips through the drilled holes. NOTE: Make sure the screws go through the valance all the way to the mounting area.

STEP 1 D. Inside Mount (Designer Valance)

1. Begin by laying the valance down on a flat surface. Make sure that the fabric or vinyl side is facing AWAY from you.

2. Snap one connector onto valance approximately 4" from each end. Slide the 3" valance connector into the grooves on the back side of the valance. Snap one connector onto valance approximately 4" from each end. Space remaining connectors evenly.

3. Next, place the C clip mounting brackets 4" from each end of the dust cover. Place and center C clip on top of valance connector. NOTE: The C clip long point should be lined up evenly with the edge of the connector (facing you).

4. Then, using a pencil, mark the hole locations for the C clips. Now, pre-drill the marked holes on the connector.

5. Mark the hole locations on the mounting surface.

6. Then, take the valance and center over the mounting area. Using the pre-drilled holes (from step 4) as a template, mark your mounting area.

7. Drill holes through the valance at the mounting hole marks. Note: If you are drilling into drywall, make sure to use adequate hollow wall anchors.

8. Next, hold the valance and C clips up to the holes and secure screws through the connector and valance and into the sill or ceiling.

STEP 2 Vane Installation

Start by rotating the stems so that you are able to see through the stem slots.

Next, push the vane firmly up into the stem. Next, gently pull down on the vane to ensure that it catches securely on the stem hook. Repeat this process for all of your vanes.

Remember, when inserting your vanes, make sure that they all face the same direction. If, for some reason, your vanes will not rotate, check to make sure that the vanes are all overlapped in the same direction.

STEP 3 Installation of Rotating Chain On Bottom Hold Down

Begin by installing the rotation chain on bottom hold down.

Install the guard support to the wall in line with the headrail control. Ensure the chain has minimal tension. Install one screw in the bottom hole.

It is highly recommended to use drywall plugs if you are not able to anchor to wall studs.

Now install the traverse cord on top hold down labeled cord.

If the cord is loose, you MUST adjust it by pulling on the knotted end of the cord inside the headrail. Locate knotted cord and pull on this cord until it has minimal tension on the top guide.

SPECIAL NOTE: On a split draw headrail, if the vanes move as you pull the cord, you must pull the opposite cord.

Now, if the cord is too long, simply tie a new knot and cut off the excess cord. Test to make sure cord is taught and adjust accordingly.

Lastly, place on the cover and install using a screw.

STEP 4 Valance Assembly And Installation (if ordered)
Deluxe Valance

Snap one clip onto headrail approximately 5" from each end. Slide the valance clip into the grooves on the front and back side of the valance. Next, evenly space remaining clips on headrail. Then, slide valance into clips. Then, attach the clear corner connectors into both sides of the valance. Lastly, mark and cut the valance returns to the correct size and attach it to the corner connector.

Designer Valance

Slide the 3" valance connector into the grooves on the back side of the valance. Snap one connector onto valance approximately 4" from each end. Space remaining connectors evenly. Now, snap valance clip onto headrail approximately 5" from each end. Slide the valance clip into the grooves on the front and back side of the headrail. Then, evenly space remaining clips on headrail. Lastly, slide the valance connector into the clips.

STEP 5 Vertical Blind Operation

Your new vertical blind is quite easy to operate. There are only 2 items to take careful note of; the chain and the nylon cord. The chain operates the tilt. The nylon cord operates the draw.

It is very important to remember to open with the chain before drawing with the nylon cord.

Cleaning, Maintenance & Warranty Information

Fabric Freehang and Fabric Groover Vertical Blinds

To clean your Fabric Freehang or Fabric Groover vertical blind, begin by extending it out to its full length. First close the vanes completely in one direction and wipe them with a soft cloth or even use your vacuum (brush attachment). Then, close the vanes completely in the other direction and repeat to complete the cleaning. BlindsandDrapery.com recommends that you clean your vertical blinds at least once per year. This will help keep them beautiful for years to come.

Vinyl Verticals

To clean your Vinyl vertical blinds, it is best not to use any strong or abrasive cleaners. Treat your Vinyl vertical like a fine piece of furniture. Use a feather duster or simple dust cloth and brush lightly to remove the dust.

BlindsandDrapery.com recommends that you clean your Vinyl verticals at regular intervals.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR ALL MOUNTS: When you need to release the headrail to remove for cleaning, simply insert a screwdriver between the headrail and pull forward to release the tab.

Vane Maintenance

If opening or closing the vanes becomes difficult, spray a small amount of silicone on the aluminum rod inside the headrail. Then, operate a couple of times to work the spray over the entire rod. You will also want to vacuum the headrail every other year.

Lifetime Limited Warranty

BlindsandDrapery.com offers a Lifetime Limited Warranty on all working parts inside the track. There is also a 5 year warranty for any chipping, peeling, cracking or yellowing of the vane. All repairs on warranty items will be completed at the factory. You will need to ship the repair to us freight pre-paid.
